Everything you need to know about your newspaper!

What size is my newspaper?

Your newspaper will have page size 280 x 400 mm, with a print area of 250 x 370 mm. This is the usual tabloid format.

Is my newspaper made from real newsprint?

Yes! At Happiedays, we use real newsprint to give your newspaper that authentic look and feel.

Newspapers with fewer than 12 pages are printed on slightly firmer newsprint. That way your newspaper is easier to hold and leaf through. By contrast, newspapers with more than 16 pages are printed on a lighter-weight newsprint. Both types of newsprint are environment-friendly and are FSC certified.

Why are there print marks on my newspaper?

The use of print marks are technical requirements that allow us to process your order efficiently. These print marks are found on the outer margins of your newspaper (outside of the print area) and have no bearing on your texts or pictures (as these can only be placed within the print area).

At the bottom of the final page of your newspaper, you will also find a Happiedays banner. This banner cannot be removed or overwritten and will appear in both the editor and the PDF file.

Why can’t I open my newspaper template (keeps loading)?

This may be connected to your browser. Our online platform is best supported by Chrome. We recommend you always use Chrome as other browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Opera…) may cause problems when loading, editing or saving.

Can I make a newspaper from a PDF file?

Besides texts and images, you can also add PDF files to your newspaper. Simply upload the file in the editor and click and drag the PDF pages to those of your newspaper. NOTE: You can only upload PDF files that have the same (or fewer) number of pages than your newspaper. If your newspaper only has 4 pages, for instance, but your PDF file has 10, the upload won't work until you add enough pages to your newspaper. After adding pages to your newspapers, make sure to save changes before dragging the pages of your PDF to your newspaper.

Are my newspapers delivered by registered post?

That depends on the size of your order. Smaller orders are delivered by post. There is no shipment number to track the order. Your local postman will post your order through the letter box.

Larger orders are delivered by courier service TNT FedEx. As soon as your newspaper have been shipped, you’ll receive an e-mail with shipment number with which you can track your shipment. Contrary to smaller order sent by post, larger orders sent by courier are sent by registered post, so it’s important that someone is home to sign for the package. If you are unable to receive your shipment at the scheduled time, please contact TNT Fedex directly to arrange a new delivery time. Alternatively, you can leave a signed note with specific instructions for your TNT courier next to the doorbell.

Why does my PDF preview have a watermark?

After ordering your newspaper you can access a low-resolution PDF file of your newspaper with watermark. This PDF is provided for illustrative purposes only. The file we use for print is a high-resolution PDF without watermark.

Who should I put down as “Chief Editor”?

When you make a newspaper, you’ll be asked to fill out several fields under the settings tab. The information you provide will appear in the bottom right corner of your newspaper as “Chief Editor”. This identifies the person responsible for the formatting of your newspaper. It is not the shipping address (which you’ll be able to specify at a later stage of the ordering process).

How eco-friendly is my newspaper?

We print all our newspapers on a rotary press with water-based ink (inkjet). Thanks to this environmentally-friendly technology we can provide you with a fun, unique and eco-friendly newspaper!
